“Change is inevitable. Change is constant.” I think we can all agree with this observation made by Benjamin Disraeli, noted British statesman. This year, more than ever, our industry finds itself in the midst of significant change. Mandated DRS for Exchange listed issues, the prospect of legislation that will require transfer agents to do cost basis reporting, the implementation of Notice and Access, and further anticipated changes to the annual meeting process are some of the more significant issues that agents and service providers must deal with. In addition, changes to Reg S-P will require that transfer agents adopt policies and procedures to safeguard investors’ personal information. Compliance with privacy regulations and with the ever changing states’ escheatment laws are also areas of concern. THE LOCATION
This year the STA Conference is being held at The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach, located on Palm Beach Island; it is only 8 miles from the Palm Beach International Airport.
The resort’s luxurious rooms are being offered to conference participants at a special rate of $215 per night until September 15, 2008. After September 15, or when the block is filled, reservations will be taken on a space available basis and the conference rate cannot be guaranteed.
