In coming months, transfer agents and other service providers will be faced with ever increasing changes. The mandate that securities listed on the major Exchanges be DRS eligible, effective January 1, 2008, will require that agents have the ability to communicate electronically with the Depository Trust Company’s FAST system, and meet revised criteria for participation. Compliance with anti-money laundering regulations continues to be a matter of concern to regulators. NYSE Euronext and other industry groups are examining the annual meeting process including discretionary voting and communications with shareholders. The scrutiny of over voting scenarios continues and offers opportunities for change. More and more agents are joining Paperless Legals. This year the STA Conference is being held at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, which overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and is just 25 minutes from Southwest Florida International Airport (Fort Myers).
The resort’s luxurious rooms are being offered to conference participants at a special rate of $225 per night until September 21, 2007. After September 21st, or when the block is filled, reservations will be taken on a space available basis and the conference rate cannot be guaranteed.
