Training Seminars

divide

In September 2005, the Securities Transfer Association Inc., initiated a cost effective, inter-active and up-to-date training program.  Identifying and reducing potential liabilities, while improving security-holder services are the program’s goals.

Initially the program was offered in an open-enrollment format.  There were twenty three sessions offered.  Many individuals, after attending, believed the presentation would benefit others in their organizations.  This led to the creation of the on-site seminar.  Through December 2008, fifty nine on premise programs have been requested and conducted.  Over 1,360 representatives from more than 1132 organizations in 40 states and Canada have attended these eight-hour sessions.  The quality of the presentations may be measured by the number of repeat invitations.

Seminar Objectives

The securities industry is fascinating.  The only constant is change.  This is particularly true at present.  There are a number of misconceptions.  An understanding of the entire process cannot be accomplished on-line.  We explain the investor, bank/broker, depository, issuer-transfer agent relationship.  Through real life anecdotes, case studies and examples, we clarify each individual’s responsibilities.  This will enable the members of the securities industry to service the investors who support our industry.

Who Should Attend

Anyone involved directly or indirectly in the security-holder or transfer process, either in an administrative or operations capacity will benefit.  Even if the function is performed by an organization on your behalf, you should be aware of their policies and practices.  The ultimate responsibility could be yours!

Instructor

Kevin P. Irwin is the coordinator and instructor of the Association’s training curriculum.  Kevin is widely recognized and respected as one of the foremost trainers in the securities industry.  He has conducted over 800 securities training programs at banks, brokerages, corporations, depositories, exchanges, mutual funds, securities associations and transfer agents.

Kevin is frequently a guest speaker at industry conferences and annual meetings.  He stresses involvement and participation.  Attendees routinely praise the contents of his seminars, as well as his presentation skills.  One indicator is the often repeated comment that the program was too short after an eight hour session!

Among the attendees comments:

  • Securities transfer de-mystified.  Great seminar.  Thank you.
  • Instructor entertaining, engaging and knowledgeable.  A lot of class involvement.
  • We promoted the program to new staff.  Should have promoted to entire staff.
  • This seminar would be excellent for administrators to learn about the industry and a great refresher for management.
  • Great presentation.  I learned and laughed at the same time.
  • Kevin was very interesting and informative.  He made an 8-hour presentation seem much shorter.

Seminar Fee

To maximize the effectiveness of the learning process, we limit attendance to 25 individuals.  The cost for an on-site presentation starts at $2,500 plus expenses for which 10 individuals are entitled to attend.  For each additional attendee, the fee increases in increments of $100.
